GCC indoor nets tomorrow evening (Tues 13 feb)

A message from Chairman Paul Feavearyear

It was good to see a decent turn out at nets a fortnight ago, very positive. Hopefully it will be the same at the next session which is tomorrow, Tuesday 13 Feb, with the addition of a few different faces! Hethersett Academy 7-9pm. £3 per session.

We are in the process of finalising sponsors for next season and so far we have seven confirmed, and are hopeful of one or two more. If anyone else, or perhaps your employer, is interested in sponsoring the club please get in touch with me or one of the other committee members.

Thank you.

Garby women through to semi-final

GCC Women have been taking part in the Norfolk Cricket Shell Indoor competition at Hethersett Academy and yesterday (Sunday 11 Feb 2018) they finished top of their group after a close fought win over Swardeston Swallows. GCC Women have an excellent track record in this competition having won it in 2015 and 2016. The team is headed up by Sarah McGahan and the squad includes: Emma Rogers, Jessica Davey, Georgie Dunkinson, Ella Dye, Beth Champion, Maddy Browne and Sophie Child.

UPDATE

Here’s one we missed in the run up to Christmas…

On Sunday December 17 it was Finals Evening in the annual Breckland Indoor League competition at Thetford Leisure Centre. Garboldisham and Gt Ellingham had topped Group B and Hingham and Bradenham had topped Group A and so all four teams came together for the finals.

Gt Ellingham beat Hingham in the first semi-final and Garby just scraped a win against Bradenham in a thrilling second semi. The final saw Garboldisham and Great Ellingham battle it out. Garby batted first and set 277/9 (net score of 232) but Great Ellingham replied well with 254/3 and and with less wickets lost, they ended with a higher net score of 239 to take overall victory.

You can read more about the Finals Evening here on the Norfolk Cricket website

President’s Day 2017

GCC President Trevor Lambert with the President’s XI and GCC First XI

The annual President’s Day match last Sunday 3 September traditionally marks the end of the season for Garboldisham Cricket Club. This year the 1st team just managed to scrape a win after a huge 10th wicket partnership between Kieran Pask (76*) & Danny Cash.

William Dewing is bowled by Gavin Barnes and sees his off stump go tumbling.

Last year’s outgoing Chairman Robert Leech was presented with a framed montage of photos in recognition of his many years as Chairman and for all the fantastic work that he has done for the club. Robert is flanked by new Chairman Paul Feavearyear and President Trevor Lambert.
