U15s do the double!

SNCL u15 Carnival Cup at The Langley Tuesday 30 August Last week the u15s won the Norfolk Alliance Andy Seeley cup and today they added yet another trophy to their cabinet with victory in the SNCL u15 final. They’ve established themselves as one of Garboldisham CC’s best youth teams ever. The South Norfolk Community League Carnival Cup is a brand new event that takes the top two teams from each of the two SNCL leagues and brings them together to play in a Finals Day – semis, a final and a 3rd/4th place play-off. Garboldisham u15s were drawn against Acle in the semi-final. Acle batted first and after an early batting collapse, recovered before being bowled out for 81 in the 13th over. There were two wickets apiece for Louis Hart and Toby Culling, and one each for Angus Russell, Harry Southgate and George Self, plus a run-out. Toby and George Southgate opened the batting for Garboldisham and they were soon finding the boundaries. A very fruitful ‘power-play’ over (all scores are doubled in the power-play) saw Garby pick up 34 runs from that one over alone and …

Pask takes a 6-fer against Diss to wrap up a glorious season for the 1sts

Photo: Kieran Pask takes his 6th wicket at Rectory Meadow for the 1st XI against Diss On the final day of the season, Kieran Pask took 6 wickets against his old club Diss to help GCC 1st XI to a three wicket victory and a second place finish in the Norfolk Alliance Premier League in only their first season of top-flight cricket! It wraps up a fantastic season for captain Danny Cash and the 1sts that includes winning the Lady Mary Trophy last weekend. Garboldisham won the toss at Rectory Meadow and put Diss in to bat and it wasn’t long before Kieran Pask was tearing through Diss’s top and middle order with a ruthless display of bowling. Two more wickets from Dan Constable and one apiece from Alex Hogg and Rob Fuller had Diss bowled out for just 114 in the 36th over. However, it wasn’t all plain sailing in reply with Garby losing 7 wickets before they were safely over the line. Dan Constable picked up his 6th half century for the 1sts. 1st XI 27.08.2016 …

1sts thrash Fakenham + u15s through to semis

Kieran Pask (pictured left with Henry Phoenix in this photo from last season) took 5 wickets against Fakenham Match summaries for Saturday 23 July The 1st XI thrashed visitors Fakenham by a massive 10 wickets! Fakenham won the toss and elected to bat first but Kieran Pask tore through their top order taking 5-26 and with Gavin Barnes (3-16) and Alex Hogg (2-22) cleaning up the middle and tail, Fakenham found themselves bowled out for just 71 runs. Garby openers Dan Constable and Alex chased down the visitors’ total in just 11.4 overs with no wickets lost. The 2nds still remain top of the Alliance Division 4 despite their second loss on the trot – this week to Martham who now move up to second place in the table and are snapping at Garby’s heels. Garboldisham won the toss and chose to bat first but never really got going and were all out for 127. Ben Asker was Garby’s highest scorer with 32. Martham lost 4 wickets in their chase but had the game wrapped …
