GCC receives ECB Clubmark re-accreditation

The club has re-applied for, and been successful in achieving Clubmark status once again. ECB Clubmark shows that Garboldisham CC club is sustainable, well run and provides the right environment for its members. Clubmark accreditation also means that GCC is recognised as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages, as well as assuring parents that their children are well looked after. Match summaries: Saturday 26 August 2017

Congratulations to GCC 2nds who won their final game of the season on Saturday and who are now the Norfolk Alliance Division 4 champions and win promotion to Division 3! And well done  to the 1sts who avoided relegation and finished midway in the Premier Division in 5th place. Here’s a brief summary of all Saturday’s matches: Captain Danny Cash and the 1sts were away to Acle. A win would guarantee themselves a place in the Premier Division for next season – but if they lost, their survival would depend on how other teams performed… Garby won the toss and put the home side in to bat and in a devastating opening spell of bowling, Kieran Pask (4-28) tore through Acle’s top order to leave them floundering on 9-3. Gavin Barnes (3-22) and Alex Hogg (2-1) joined the party and together with a couple of run-outs, Acle were all out for just 65 runs! It took just 12 overs and no wickets lost for Garboldisham to chase down Acle’s total, with Dan Constable scoring 43 …

Match summaries for Saturday 12 August

Tom Davey (pictured above) picked up 3 key wickets and a half-century for Garby against Cromer There were just two games on this week with the 2nds and 3rds both having fixture-less days. The 1sts travelled up to Cromer for a key late season game that could mean the difference between them staying in the Premier Division or facing relegation. Garboldisham won the toss and put the home side in to bat. Cromer started steadily enough and had 30 runs on the board until Tom Davey made the breakthrough with the ball to take the first wicket which sparked a top-order mini collapse for the Crabs with three more wickets falling (two for Davey and one for Gavin Barnes) in quick succession for the addition of just one run (31-4). Cromer’s middle order steadied their ship and a late flurry of runs from their nos. 7 and 10 saw them finish on 205-8 after 50 overs. Tom Davey finished with 3-40 and Sean Taylor, 2-28. Gavin Barnes, Dan Constable and Rob Fuller took a wicket each. In …

Match summaries for Saturday 5 August

Luke Rackham (pictured above from 2014) picked up 5 wickets for just 11 runs for the 2nds in their win against Rocklands   It was another bad day at the office for the 1sts who were up against Fakenham at home. The visitors won the toss, put themselves in to bat and scored 218-8 after a rain-reduced 40 overs. In reply, Garboldisham were bowled out for 123 which saw them slip down into second from bottom in the Norfolk Alliance Premier League. They have three games left in the season to try and pick up some wins to avoid relegation. Meanwhile the 2nds continued their winning streak and remain at the top of Division 4 but going forward, their nearest rivals Bircham (2nd) and Sheringham (3rd) do both have a game in hand. The 2nds were away to Rocklands who won the toss and put Garby in to field. A five-for for Luke Rackham (5-11!)  and a couple of wickets each for Sean Taylor and James Worby left Rocklands on 177-9 after 45 overs. After a wobbly start with the …
