Don’t miss our end of season party on Saturday 3 September (less than a month away)! If you want to dress up in fancy dress, then this year, our theme is pop music. The cost is only £10 per person which includes a Fish and Chip supper! The fun starts at 7.30pm at the barn on The Lyng. Contact Peter Barnes for more info and for tickets 07825 351062.

Wins for 2s and 3s. Weekend round-up for 30-31 July

Pictured above: Phil Carr helps the 3rds to victory with a personal best score of 69 not out and two wickets The 1st XI were away to Swardeston 2nd XI, lost the toss and were put in to bat with Dan Constable and Alex Hogg opening. Dan went on to score 55 with the rest of the Garby wickets tumbling for not many runs and it was only some late hitting from tail-ender Gavin Barnes (30) that pushed the 1sts to a more respectable 170 all out. Slow and steady batting from Swardeston saw them go on to claim victory with a 6 wicket win. Garby 1sts are still clawing on to 3rd place in the league. The 2nds were at home at The Langley to Stow. Stow won the toss and put Garboldisham in to bat with Jack Stevenson and Jonny Wyatt getting Garby off to an excellent solid start. Jack went for 25 but Jonny went on to pick up 75. Add in to that an epic 82 from Jon Olpin and Garboldisham finished on a very healthy 241-8. Stow …

Garby openers Dan Constable and Alex chased down the visitors’ total in just 11.4 overs with no wickets lost. The 2nds still remain top of the Alliance Division 4 despite their second loss on the trot – this week to Martham who now move up to second place in the table and are snapping at Garby’s heels. GCC match round-up for Saturday 9 July 2016

Picture: GCC club stalwart Andy Freake scored 63 runs for Garboldisham 3rd XI to help them secure a 76 runs, top-of-the-table clash victory over Castle Acre Once again, wet weather caused chaos to all GCC teams’ fixtures with the 2nds away game at Rocklands being abandoned and the 4ths away game at Beeston, near Dereham, cancelled. But play did get underway back at The Langley for the 1sts and 3rds… Garboldisham 1st XI v Brooke 1st XI With rain delaying the start, the match was reduced to 40 overs. Garboldisham were put in to bat and some big hitting from Henry Phoenix (75*) and Aussie Dan Constable (52) plus a quick-fire 24 from captain Danny Cash, pushed the Garby total to a fairly healthy 198 for 6. However, it wasn’t quite enough and Brooke managed to chase it down with a couple of overs to spare (202-6) to win by 4 wickets. There were good bowling figures for Dan Constable who took 4 wickets for 24 runs. Garboldisham 3rd XI v Castle Acre 1st XI Castle Acre …

U11s bounce back against H&TV

Sunday 10 July 2016: After last week’s loss to Old Buckenham, the U11s were back to their winning form against Hethersett and Tas Valley. This latest win takes them to the top of the South Norfolk Community League U11 Barnard League. Sunday 10 July 2016 South Norfolk Community League Captain James Davey won the toss and batted first on an excellent wicket prepared by Andy Smith considering all the bad weather we have had recently. Openers Elliot Hart and Jack Whitlam strolled to the crease looking to set the tone. Hart did just that, hitting the first ball of the match for 4 and scoring freely. Whitlam got a good ball first up and lost his off stump, but Hart continued in his boisterous fashion and after just 3 overs with the score on 39/1 Hart had to retire after reaching his quota of 30 not out. After this the run rate slowed down a little but all the Garby team added useful contributions – Charie Aldous 7, James Davey 14, Daniel Worby 10, Ronnie Stevenson 6 not out and …

Win for U11s at Swardeston sees them through to 1/4 finals

Swardeston U11s v Garboldisham U11s Monday 27 June 2016. Norfolk Alliance pairs Garby under 11s demolish unbeaten Swardeston in their own back yard! Garby 316-6 net score 280 beat Swardeston 294-6 net 258 by 22 runs. Garby travelled to unbeaten Swardeston knowing they would have to play their ‘A-game’ to get a result. Winning the toss James Davey elected to field first. Swardeston got off to a steady start with their opening pair scoring 21 from their 4 overs for no wicket. Their second pair, with hard hitting Luca, scored freely but Oscar Skilleter got a vital wicket with a good caught and bowled and then the ever impressive Jack Whitlam took a second wicket in the next over when he bowled his school mate Luca with an unplayable in-swinging yorker. The second pair finished with 33-2 from their 4 overs. After this the Garby bowlers were all over the opposition – Elliot Harte got 2 wickets, both bowled in quick succession with an impressive variation of pace and spin bowling, and Jess Davey got 2 good run-outs.
