Match summaries for Saturday 18 July 2015
The 1sts moved to the top of the table after an excellent win against North Runcton. The home side batted first and were all out for 196 with Gavin Barnes taking 4-38. Garboldisham chased Runcton’s total down with plenty of overs to spare and for the loss of just four wickets. There were a couple of big, big sixes from Kieran Pask (69) and Kristian Williman picked up another half century (60). North Runcton had been sitting at the top of the league themselves and this was their first loss of the season but they do still have a game in hand. Well done Garboldisham. Keep it going!
The 2nds were at home to Dersingham. They batted first and scored a moderate 215 including a well assembled 55 from wicket keeper Lewis Taylor. It was certainly a chaseable target for the visitors but fine bowling from Garby had Dersingham struggling to get out of the blocks and their wickets began to fall at regular intervals and they found themselves bowled out for 137. There were wickets from Danny Philpott 4-32 and a couple each from Jack Peart and Paul Feavearyear. This was just the third win of the season for the 2nds but it lifts them comfortably out of the relegation zone into 6th place in Division 4 of the Norfolk Alliance.
It was a dramatic finish for the 3rds playing at home to Eaton. Eaton made a slow start with the bat but a late surge from their number 8 who scored 80 runs, pushed their total up to 234 for 9. Garboldisham were always just behind the run rate but 52 from Dick Culling and some big hitting from the father and son partnership of Paul and Joe Baker, clawed the game back and a win suddenly looked achievable. Incredibly, the game finished on an exact draw with Garby also scoring 234 for 9! Points were shared with 17 each. The 3rds are now 4th in their league.
The 4ths travelled to Colney who batted first and scored 224 for 7. In reply Garboldisham found themselves 153 all out as they attempted the run chase.
